Theater

"The first time I played Sojourner Truth, I had no idea I would be playing her for years or that it would lead to  writing a monologue not only for her but also for Harriet Tubman.  When I share their lives with people, I'm honoring them in a way that keeps me grounded in the vast amount of work we still have to do."

Reenactment

Whether I am reenacting Sojourner Truth or Harriet Tubman I use words they used while making it relevant to now. Both scripts speak to the audience as if these powerful women have come back to life for a moment to share stories about their lives and to say something important to today's living generations. The one woman show is about 30 minutes long with a Q & A that follows. I stay in character even for the questions that follow.
